Following a notable absence of more than six months, the Eat Smart NY program returns to Franklin County. Despite changes in guidance from the funder, the program continues to offer evidence-based nutrition education for families, children and seniors in a variety of community venues. Much like the education provided by CCE Franklin last year, these events are one-time stand-alone education pieces and occur in places serving low income populations. Unfortunately, the new guidance no longer allows for series education to either groups or individuals.
Jenifer Shaw, three county Nutrition Educator brings Eat Smart NY to Franklin, Clinton and Essex Counties. Ms. Shaw is based in Clinton County. Guidelines provide for 10-20 nutrition education and food demonstrations in Franklin County each month. Currently she has events scheduled at Saranac Lake Farmers’ Market from 10 AM to 2 PM on Tuesdays and most Wednesdays from 10 to 11 in the morning at OneWorkSource. Visit Franklin.CCE.Cornell.edu for more information and details.
Ms. Shaw seeks additional Franklin County venues for the Eat Smart NY program. Please contact her to make arrangements to appear at your appropriate event or location. She can be reached at (518) 561-7405 or jls658@cornell.edu.
