SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator

POSITION DETAILS:

This position will serve as the SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Franklin County and will implement nutrition, food demonstration, and cooking programming using pre-approved lesson plans and curricula aimed at improving healthy food and lifestyle choices among low-income families, individual, and youth groups throughout Franklin County. Programming will take place both on-site and off-site in the community, in accordance with the Nutrition Program Area’s plan of work and federal and NY state SNAP-Ed guidelines. This position will also coordinate all administrative aspects of the SNAP-ED Program and will assist the Nutrition Program Manager with marketing efforts and monthly reporting for SNAP-Ed, in collaboration with other nutritionists of the SNAP-ED program in the North Country Region.

This position is a full-time non-exempt position - 100% FTE. The hourly rate for this position is $21.50. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education (Associate’s Degree and 2 years of transferrable program/functional experience) or above, preferably in nutrition, dietetics, community and behavioral health, health education, public health, or nursing. This includes persons certified as RD, RDN, CCN, CNS, and RN as well as other individuals with coursework/experience in nutrition and/or health education with training and/or experience to communicating nutrition and obesity prevention topics.
  • Strong understanding of community nutrition education topics and obesity prevention delivery methods.
  • Experience with and understanding of rural, low-income populations.
  • Experience with addressing nutrition/food insecurity.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate

4-H Camp Overlook Registrar

This position will serve as the Camp Registrar for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Franklin County and will provide support to the organization within the limits of established policies, guidelines and/or procedures, specifically for 4-H Camp Overlook, which is owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Franklin and St. Lawrence Counties. This position will be responsible for processing camper registrations including data entry, cabin assignments, class selection, scholarship forms, health records, and mailings. This position will also be responsible for processing ropes course rentals, as well as facility rental paperwork and maintaining an Outlook calendar. The Camp Registrar will provide positive communication between staff at the physical camp location in Mountain View and the administrative office located in Malone. This position will communicate with Association staff, leadership and the Executive Director to facilitate all human resources responsibilities as assigned. This position will represent Cornell Cooperative Extension to the general public, community leaders and government officials in a professional manner. Will appreciate and embrace diversity in all interactions with clientele, staff, volunteers, and the public. In addition, to maintain proper data entry, this position will be responsible for daily cash receipts and credit card expenses in Acumatica. In the previous system a single entry was completed for all of camp payments on a single date. Acumatica requires each individual transaction to be entered separately and includes their full address. Therefore, one entry may contain around fifty cash sales entries a day. Acumatica also requires scanning and uploading of all backup documents and receipts.
