SHINE - Senior Health Improvement and Nutrition Education

In response to the local and national precautions being taken regarding COVID-19, CCE Franklin is suspending public program outreach that is considered non-essential until further notice.

Please feel free to reach out to our educators with your questions in the mean time!!

This new initiative began with encouragement from Becky Preve, Director of the Office for the Aging in Franklin County, for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Franklin County to promote and coordinate the SHINE program throughout the North Country, in multiple counties.

The New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) and the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) have made an agreement to reach out to different regions of New York State to provide additional Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) education to older adults. This new and exciting program is called SHINE, or Senior Health Improvement and Nutrition Education.

Family Health and Well-being Educator, Dan Sweet will be leading the SHINE workshops using Eat Healthy, Be Active & Eat Smart, Live Strong Curriculum.
