Franklin County in Northern New York State is looking for a dynamic leader to support and continue to develop outstanding staff who deliver effective programming to a diverse client base.

This position will appeal to you if you seek to be responsible for coordinating, directing, and sustaining the operations of the Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Franklin County in accordance with the long-term strategy of the organization. You would have direct responsibility to:

 develop and maintain effective working relationships among the Association, staff, extension administration, Cornell faculty, and stakeholders;

 provide leadership for Association relations with legislators, local government leaders, community leaders, funding agencies and civic and special interest groups; and 

 collaborate with other Cornell Cooperative Extension Executive Directors and program leaders in the region to assure effective and productive working relationships.

As the successful candidate, you will also lead the Cooperative Extension team in nearby Essex County. This is a part-time (approximately 25%) contractual assignment in a smaller, important Association and you will have the same responsibilities as in Franklin County. This innovative collaboration is supported by the Boards of Directors in both Essex and Franklin Counties.

You would be accountable to the CCE Franklin County and Essex County Boards of Directors, with oversight by the State Extension Specialist, for the financial viability of each organization’s operations, sound management of staff and volunteers, as well as compliance with contractual, and Federal and New York State regulatory requirements of operations. The Executive Director is the direct liaison between the Boards and staff and management and communicates to the Board on their behalf.

This is a year-round position. You will be required to meet the operating challenges of the organization. The job requires frequent travel, and supervision of persons trained and skilled in a variety of specialized functions that deliver services to Cooperative Extension stakeholders. This is a salaried, exempt position.

You will be considered if you possess a Master’s degree appropriate to the responsibilities of the position, with preference given to education, public administration, or a field related to extension programs. Other requirements include:

 Minimum of six (6) years of professional experience which includes four (4) years of substantive organizational leadership and management experience including human resources, finance, and organizational management. 

 Demonstrated ability to work with the general public, community leaders, and government regulatory officials, and to assess local community issues 

 Experience successfully dealing with public information and social media is a necessary condition 

 Substantial training or experience with applied research, non-formal education, and/or public outreach.

4-H After-School/Nutrition Educator (Full-time position)

This position will serve as the 4-H After-School and Nutrition Program Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Franklin County and will assist the 4-H Tribal Mentoring Site Coordinator with coordinating assigned tasks related to programming efforts. This position will also assist the Nutrition Educator in the coordination and implementation of existing, research-based Nutrition Education programs and activities as outlined under the 4-H Healthy Habits Grant Program. This position will utilize existing Nutrition Program activities and research-based curriculum and resources in assisting with programming efforts. This position is a full-time non-exempt position, - 100% FTE, 35 hours per week. This position is offered at $16 per hour and, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

Required Qualifications:

∙Associate's Degree or Equivalent Education (GED/High School Diploma and one year of transferable program/functional experience).

∙Experience relevant to the role of the position.

∙Valid New York State Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.

∙Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (DMV and criminal background checks).

∙Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
