Tupper Lake 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC)

Funded through New York State Education Department (NYSED) the TL21st CCLC program serves 51 Tupper Lake youth ages 7 to 18 and their families. Now in its 2nd year, Program Director, Ellen Cerminara works closely with Tupper Lake Central School District administration and faculty to enhance learning opportunities among program participants through offering evidence-based, hands-on curriculum which supports classroom instruction.

Key community based organizations including the YMCA, Citizens Advocacy, and the Wild Center provide specialized programming to further enhance program deliverables. In addition, local vendors provide focused instruction based on seasonal interests of program participants including; wild edibles, yoga, natural history, dance, woodworking, gardening, and Zumba.

Program impact is measured by an external evaluator (RED Group) based on the quantitative and qualitative analysis of a variety of evaluation tools (teacher surveys, academic reports, and analysis of mathematics and ELA proficiency levels) implemented in the first and fourth quarters.

Key Collaborators: NYSED, Tupper Lake Central School District, Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), YMCA, Citizens Advocates, Wild Center, Township/Community of Tupper Lake, Joint Council for Economic Opportunity (JCEO)
